After a comprehensive hearing evaluation if we discover that your hearing loss is not medically or surgically treatable, you will be scheduled for a hearing aid evaluation. At your complimentary hearing aid evaluation, you can expect the following:
1. Lifestyle Assessment
Our Audiologist will ask you a number of questions regarding your lifestyle so that we can understand your different listening environments. You will be asked about the places where you find communication to be difficult, and your most important priorities for improving your hearing.
2. Review your specific type of hearing loss
This is an opportunity to ask as many questions as you like. It is recommended that you bring a family member with you to the hearing aid evaluation. Most Audiologists agree that hearing loss is a family issue. It helps to have another supportive person at the appointment to help you understand the information and recommendations.
3. Receive a Free Demonstration
While we are discussing technology you will get to sample a hearing aid(s) in the office and start to hear the things you have been missing. You will get to see and touch different styles of hearing aids.
4. Create a custom hearing solution just for you
Taking into account your hearing abilities and your lifestyle, we craft a hearing solution just for you. In today’s world, there are many different styles of hearing aids and technology levels. At Sonus we have four different levels of technology to meet your needs. We have Premier, Signature, Advantage, and Plus. We will discuss features such as Bluetooth and other wireless connectivity devices to enhance your listening experiences in a wide variety of situations.
Based on your hearing loss, communication needs, cosmetic appearance, and budget, we will assist you in selecting the most appropriate style and technology to best match your hearing loss and lifestyle. Keep in mind, everyone’s hearing loss is different and listening needs are unique, so what we recommend for you will be quite different for what we recommend for someone else. If you have an active lifestyle, you may need more features in order to adjust to a greater range of situations. Others may need features that function in quieter environments.
Once you make a decision, the Audiologist may take impressions of your ears if you selected custom hearing aids or behind-the-ear hearing aids that require earmolds. Hearing aids are usually ordered from a manufacturer and then programmed by the Audiologist to meet your specific hearing needs. This process can take a couple of weeks, so do not be disappointed when you do not receive your hearing aids the same day as your evaluation.
